ReiserFS is
the
standard FileSystem type designed by Hans Reiser.
Future Technologies choose ReiserFS in 2000 as the first step in the
FTOSX project because it is journalized, faster and the best space
efficient FileSystem ever made.
When you create a new file on DOS or VFAT (MS Windows) filesystem,
after months would be necessary to 'defrag' your filesystem, with
programs like SpeedDisk from Norton Utilities or others.
If you use 'ext2', the normal choice for common Linux Distro, you
may lose your data after a power fail.
In you are using a classical UNIX, is logical to suppose that the
classical 'lost+found' criteria is used (like in ext2), and your files
are in danger if serious electric power fails frequently.
ReiserFS solves all these problems ... in a definitive mode, because
any new file created is automatically append in the filesystem, in use
and the inodes belong to DB.

With ReiserFS you don't need to check your filesystem.
For example, 4 Hard Disk with 60GB each one may take about one hour for
a complete check ... after a powerfail or a periodic checking like
happens for ext2.

Your entire system offers more performance on the same hardware,
because ReiserFS is a filesystem using a plug-in based object oriented
variant on classical balanced tree algorithms.
No other FileSystem offers these feature and performance.
With FTOSX and ReiserFS, your data is safe as never before.
